node-one-bluetooth-node
Bluetooth Node

Bluetooth Node

Have a compatible Bluetooth device in another room, behind a cabinet, or too far from Node One? Place a Bluetooth Node nearby to give it a connection back to your aquarium server over Wi-Fi.

How it works

The node talks to nearby devices over Bluetooth Low Energy, then carries their supported readings and commands across your home network to Node One. Your device only needs to reach the nearby node; Wi-Fi handles the longer trip back to your server.

This is called a Bluetooth proxy: a small device that handles the Bluetooth connection on Node One’s behalf. For example, a compatible sensor in another room can send its readings through the node. Equipment with a supported control integration can receive commands through it, too.

Getting connected

Place and power it. Put the node near your Bluetooth equipment, where it also has a good 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi signal. Connect your own USB-C power supply.

Connect it to your network. Follow the node’s setup instructions to choose your home Wi-Fi and enter its password. It needs to be on a local network that can communicate with Node One.

Add it to Node One. Complete the connection to your server, then add or pair any supported Bluetooth equipment that needs its own setup.

Leave it running. Once configured, the node handles the connection in the background. Your phone does not need to stay connected.

Where should I put it?

Near the equipment you want to reach, with reliable Wi-Fi coverage. Keep it dry and outside metal cabinets when possible. Another room or a separate tank area is a good use for an additional node.

What do I need?

A Node One, compatible Bluetooth Low Energy equipment, home Wi-Fi, and your own 5V USB power adapter (500mA or greater) with a suitable USB-C cable. The node uses M5Stack ATOM Lite hardware running Bluetooth proxy firmware.

Device compatibility determines which readings and controls are available. This accessory supports Bluetooth Low Energy equipment; Bluetooth audio devices such as speakers and headphones are outside its scope.

Entirely optional. If your equipment already connects reliably to Node One, you do not need a Bluetooth Node. Add one where you need the extra coverage.

Ordering and shipping

Accessories ordered with a Node ONE may ship with your device.
